Palak Paneer is a popular Indian dish made with spinach and paneer cheese. Here's a simple recipe for you:
- Ingredients:1 large bunch of fresh spinach
- 1 pound paneer cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse the spinach leaves and blanch them in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. Drain and transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth and set aside.
- In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and wait until they start to crackle.
- Add the chopped onion, green chili, and grated ginger. Cook until the onions are soft and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the spices are fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the blended spinach and stir to combine.
- Add the cubes of paneer cheese to the pan and gently stir.
- If desired, pour in the heavy cream and stir until well combined.
- Cook until the sauce has thickened and the cheese is heated through, about 5-7 minutes.
